About ALâ
ALâ Participatory Theatre, founded in 2004, is a fully inclusive personal, social and community development organization, catering for adults of all abilities, nationalities and ethnic groups. We mainly use Theatre of the Oppressed, Forum Theatre methodologies as developmental tools. ALâ has a wide experience of working on a variety of projects. It has a particular background and interest in the area of integration of people with special needs and Galway new community.
ALâ is made up two groups – Ballybane Community Workshops and Theatre for Change.
Community workshops
ALâ’s Community Workshops started in March 2004 to provide people with the opportunity to learn performance skills and technical aspects of theatre. We also encourage participants to develop managerial and facilitation skills.
Theatre for Change
The aim of Theatre for Change is to use Theatre of the Oppressed (T.O) to examine social issues that are pertinent to communities and societies in order to empower people to bring about personal and social change.
Latest news
Theatre for Change Galway (TforCG) will be hosting a four day workshop on ‘Scribing for Forum’ which will run from November 14th to 17th 2017. This training will be facilitated by Sanjoy Ganguly, from Jana Sanskriti, the largest Theatre of the Oppressed Centre.
